We think these pies are even better than the regular non-keto version.

These keto pies are a perfect dish for brunch or lunch as they are very satisfying and fulfilling. They are a great option when you are looking for something delicious and easy to make. Although the dish has few elements it is very easy to assemble.

The pies are made with beef, but you can also make them with a mix of beef and pork or lamb. Adding some chopped bacon or extra cheese will make these even better and juicier.

Also, you can experiment with different spices. Try adding some cumin or smoked paprika for earthy flavors, or a mix of fresh Mediterranean herbs for a refreshing twist.

Ingredients

  • 200 g mozzarella, grated
  • 100 g edam cheese, grated
  • 70 g cream cheese
  • 150 g almond flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

The filling:

  • 500 g mince beef
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tsp xantham gum
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 200 ml beef stock or water

Instructions

  • Gather all of your ingredients.
  • Make the crust; in a microwave safe bowl, combine all the cheeses.
  • Microwave the cheese mixture on high for 1 minute. Remove from microwave and stir. Microwave for another minute or until you have a smooth mixture.
  • Transfer the cheese mixture into a large bowl. Add egg, onion powder, and almond flour.
  • Stir with a spatula or by clean hands to bring the doough together. It should be smooth. The mixture may be hot so be careful.
  • Divide the dough into six equal parts. Take a walnut size of each piece, roll back together and set it aside.
  • Take the larger pieces of the dough, flatten them by a rolling pin and place into a well buttered muffin tin.

Make the filling:

  • Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Spray it with some cooking spray or add some oil and cook the beef until browned.
  • Add onion powder, coconut aminos, salt, pepper, and tomato sauce.
  • Pour in beef stock or water. Add xanthan gum and simmer until you have a kind like thick sauce.
  • Fill the prepared dough in muffin tin with the beef mixture.
  • Using the remaining dough and roll it out. Cut the tops from it to cover your pies. You can brush the tops with one beaten egg.
  • Bake the pies in a heated oven at 180C for 15 minutes. Let the pies cool a bit before serving.
